How often do we hear ourselves or others say:
“I feel stressed”
“I just need some ‘me-time’ to unwind”
Our busy life styles are a constant drain on our nervous system and we are often unable, or have forgotten how to relax properly.
In moderation stress is a positive influence in our lives, it motivates us to arrive at work on time and organise our busy schedules. However, too much stress can disturb the body’s natural balance, it can deplete our immune system, cause insomnia, disrupt our digestive system and cause anxiety and depression.
If you are tired, frequently ill or suffer from any stress-related ailments, such as tension headaches, stiff neck and shoulders, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, backache, asthma, skin disorders or high blood pressure, steps can be taken to treat the root cause of the condition and not just the immediate symptom.
Reiki, Meditation and Reflexology are some of the most powerful natural therapies for counteracting the stress and tensions of everyday modern life.
Reassess your Lifestyle

Exercise
It is vital to use up all the excess energy that your body produces when under stress. However, many of us do not have the time or desire to go to the gym. Try taking simple regular exercise, this will help you sleep soundly at night and make you feel more energetic. Walking, swimming, cycling and dancing are great stress relievers.
Eat Well
A good diet is essential to achieve good health. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, preferably raw, as well as pulses, grains, wholemeal bread and rice. Increase your fluid intake and try to drink at least 2 litres of water each day. Avoid drinking too much in the evening, it will make your kidneys work hard and you may have a disturbed night getting up and going to the bathroom.
Avoid deep-fried foods and all processed foods, which are low in nutrients and contain high levels of salt, saturated fats, artificial flavourings and preservatives. These, as well as too much refined sugar, can help weaken your immune system. Try to eat locally grown or organic food.
Sleep
A good healthy sleep pattern can improve your quality of life. Some people need more or less than others, but 7-8 hours is usually enough. Reiki, Meditation and/or Reflexology are wonderful therapies for improving your quality of sleep.
Meditation/Mindfulness
If you find it difficult to unwind and calm your mind, try simple meditation or mindfulness techniques. You can contact Julie for advice or mentoring, join a local group, purchase a book or look up guidance on the internet.
Reiki supports Meditation and Meditation supports Reiki, these two relaxation techniques work very well together, creating a peaceful mind, body and spirit.
